Diving with the groupers of Garajau / Madeira

Diving in Madeira is a must to do on the island, either if you are certified or if it is for a first-time scuba diving.
There are many things to see, the underwater environment of Madeira is vibrant with a lot of action but one of the things that make diving such a great activity is the possibility to interact with marine life.
Of course, we need to be extremely careful and pay a lot of attention when interacting with any marine life and in general, we support interactions that come voluntarily from the animals themselves.
In the marine reserve of Garajau you may have the possibility to observe the famous groupers and in certain cases get very, very close to them.
These grouper are used to divers and look like they really like to have us around.
Believe it or not, we know them by name.
They all have different behaviours, sizes and territories. If you meet "Toni", it is going to be fun; Toni is one of the most friendly groupers and always likes to be photographed. "Elvis" instead is quite lazy, usually lies down on a sandy bottom and is not bothered if you want to get a selfie with him. Elvis is also "The king" of the area, it is in fact the alfa male. If you find a grouper in a cave is going to be probably "The English man" due to its big mouth :)
Here and there you may find Rambo or Minnie, the only female in the group.
If you want to meet our friends, do not hesitate; come to dive at the Garajau Marine Reserve.
